The London & Middlesex branch is pleased to invite you to join us on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 10 am for our monthly hybrid event, with speaker, Greg Hilton, who will be joining us virtually from Missouri. Greg is pleased to present the topic of Family Bibles and hopes to engage you to attempt to locate those of your ancestors.

A bit about our Presenter: Greg Hilton, is a local genealogical writer, speaker, volunteer and researcher who resides in St. Louis, MO with his wife and two children.  He has served on the Board of Directors of the St. Charles (MO) County Historical Society for a number of years, and he briefly worked at the St. Louis County Library/History & Genealogy Department where the National Genealogical Society (NGS) book collection is housed.

Synopsis: Have you ever been browsing in an antique, or second-hand store and come across an old family bible that has pages of handwritten entries for baptisms, marriages and burials? Have you wondered – “how did that family bible become separated from it’s family”? In this presentation, Greg will lead you through stories of reuniting lost family Bibles with descendants as you discover why these treasures are so important to your research and where they might be found.

Registration is required for those planning to attend virtually. Attendance is free and open to all.

Once registered, a confirmation email will be sent with the meeting details.

For those attending in person, we invite you to stay after the meeting for refreshments and to socialize. The London Familysearch Library (formerly the Family History Centre), located in the building, will also be open until 1 pm to allow you to do some research.
