The London & Middlesex branch is pleased to invite you to join us on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 10 am for our monthly hybrid event, with author, historian and speaker, Meagan Fillmore, who will be joining us in person.
A bit about our Speaker:
Meagan holds a Master of Museum Studies from the University of Toronto, with a focus on public history and interpretive planning. She also has a -BA in Honors
Anthropology from Wilfred Laurier University.
With a background in anthropology and artifact preservation Meagan has a personal fascination with funerary and death practices across cultures. At Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Meagan’s work focuses on creating educational walking tours on the cemetery’s rich history for all audiences.
About the Topic: This talk focuses on how to identify the different fraternal society symbols you’ll find on headstones. Meagan will give a brief introduction on each society and a breakdown of the symbols they use so that the audience will be able to recognize these emblems in their own research.
This is a hybrid meeting, so you may attend in person, or virtually – your choice. Registration is required for those planning to attend virtually. Attendance is free and open to all.
Link to register (virtual): https://bit.ly/LMOA-Jan2026 (please note: Bit.ly may redirect you – if so, click “Continue” and you will be taken to the registration page to proceed)
Once registered, a confirmation email will be sent with the meeting details.
For those attending in person, we invite you to stay after the meeting for refreshments and to socialize. The London Familysearch Library (formerly the Family History Centre), located in the building, will also be open until 12 pm to allow you to do some research.
