The London & Middlesex branch is pleased to invite you to join us on Saturday, Jun 6, 2026, at 10 am for our monthly hybrid event, with Historian, Author, Professional Researcher and Presenter, David R. Elliott, who will be joining us in person.
A bit about our Speaker:
David Elliott has degrees in archeology, history and theology. He was born in British Columbia and has been a professor of Canadian and European history, teaching in Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia and Ontario. Since 1996 he and his wife Nancy, a retired nurse, who grew up at Coldstream in Lobo Township, have lived in Parkhill.
David and Nancy created Kinfolk Finders in 2002 to do specialized historical and genealogical research. Since then, they have made numerous trips to Ireland for their clients and their own enjoyment. Over the years they have worked with Irish historical societies, various archives, and church leaders there, developing deep friendships with a number of people. While in Ireland they have been indexing cemeteries and parish registers. David is also a data partner with Find My Past Ireland.
David has been past-chair of the London and Middlesex OGS branch and founding vice-chair of the Irish Special interest Group. In 2012 he authored Researching Your Irish Ancestors at Home and Abroad, published by Dundurn Press. Currently, David is a Member-at-Large of the branch and also an active member of the Committee to Establish a Middlesex County Archives (CEMCA).
About the Topic:
The Registry of Deeds in Dublin is a major depository of Irish records which genealogists often overlook. It contains complete records from 1709 until the early twentieth century. This set of records consist not only of land sales and leases, but also mortgages, wills, marriage contracts and indenture agreements. These records were housed in a different part of Dublin, so they were not impacted by the 1922 fire at the General Registry Office, which destroyed so many Irish records. There is a steep learning curve involved in using this collection, but David Elliott will demonstrate how to use them.
This is a hybrid meeting, so you may attend in person, or virtually – your choice. Registration is required for those planning to attend virtually. Attendance is free and open to all.
Link to register (virtual): https://bit.ly/LMOA-Jun2026 (please note: Bit.ly may redirect you – if so, click “Continue” and you will be taken to the registration page to proceed)
Once registered, a confirmation email will be sent with the meeting details.

The London Familysearch Center (formerly the Family History Centre), located in the building, will also be open until 12 pm to allow you to do some research. Note: coffee and tea are not permitted in the facility.
